These beautiful clay skulls are a representation of the traditional sugar skulls, which are part of the Dia De los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Mexican Holiday. They are made of clay and hand painted by the indigenous people in Mexico. They make a great piece on their own, but as a collection they make an even greater impact.

We believe that what makes these pieces so unique is the fact that they all have some variations from one another. This also means that the one we mail out to you will not be the exact colors of the one pictured. We would be happy to provide a picture of the ones currently in stock, but if you like surprises, just let us pick one out for you!

What is Dia de Los Muertos?

Holiday Date: Oct. 31-Nov. 1

Dia de los Muertos dates back to the indigenous culture of Mexico and it is based on the belief in afterlife; when people die, they don’t cease to exist, instead, their soul is carried on to the afterworld. The tradition is to honor the deceased by either building an altar or taking offerings to the grave. It is more of a celebration of life than a mourning of death.
